# Chorevia

> Chorevia is a free household chore and family-economy app: kids earn points for chores with photo or video proof, parents approve the work, and families run a reward ladder and monthly costs kids work off. Chorevia also publishes free, evidence-based parent guides for every stage from newborn to 18, and a blog on raising financially capable, confident, responsible kids.

Parent guides summarize published research and guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the CDC, the WHO, and peer-reviewed studies. Every factual claim links to its source inline, each guide ends with a full source list, and each carries a last-reviewed date. Activities are labeled with the strength of their evidence (Strong, Moderate, Emerging, or Mixed). Guides are general education, not medical advice.

## Your first month of pregnancy, day by day

Days 14 to 34, from conception: the egg and the sperm, the journey to the womb, implantation, the missed period, and the test, with what's forming, what your body is doing, and one thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1

- [Day 14: Where the count starts](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-14.md): Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, so week 2 happened before there was a baby. Here is how the dates work, read back.
- [Day 15: One sperm, one egg](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-15.md): Around now, one sperm met one egg in a fallopian tube and made a single cell with half its DNA from each of you. The whole blueprint, in one cell.
- [Day 16: The 400 micrograms](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-16.md): The brain and spine close in the first few weeks, usually before a test turns positive. That is why folic acid is the one thing every woman who could get pregnant is asked to take.
- [Day 17: Before you knew](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-17.md): About half of pregnancies aren't planned, which means half of all mothers had weeks they can't take back. What the CDC says about alcohol, and what to do with the guilt.
- [Day 18: Smoke and the first weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-18.md): Smoking slows a baby's growth and raises the risk of preterm birth. The best time to quit was before; the next best is now. A circle on a calendar and one person told.
- [Day 19: Medicines, read back](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-19.md): Nine in ten women take some medicine in pregnancy. Before you stop or start anything, the rule is one call. Today: the list for your first visit, and a free number to ask.
- [Day 20: Cannabis and the baby](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-20.md): THC passes through to the baby, in any form it's used. The CDC's advice is plain: don't, while pregnant. Today the household writes its clean-air rule and signs it.
- [Day 21: Landing in the womb](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-21.md): This week the ball of cells settles into the wall of the womb and the cells that will become the placenta start the supply line. Nothing visible, everything happening.
- [Day 22: The hormone that says yes](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-22.md): Once the egg implants, your body makes hCG, and it rises every day. It is what every pregnancy test looks for, and why the box says to wait.
- [Day 23: A few drops](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-23.md): As many as one in four pregnant women spot in early pregnancy, usually around implantation. What counts as spotting, what counts as bleeding, and when to call.
- [Day 24: The tiredness explained](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-24.md): Tiredness can start a week after conception, before any test. Rising progesterone and more blood flow are why. Today you write yourself a permission slip for a nap.
- [Day 25: The caffeine line](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-25.md): Coffee doesn't have to go. The line is under 200 mg a day, and today you'll add up where your usual cups land.
- [Day 26: The litter box and the garden](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-26.md): Toxoplasmosis is the reason the cat's box is someone else's job for a while. Today you hand it over, or put on gloves.
- [Day 27: All, some, or none](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-27.md): Symptoms differ from person to person: every one, a few, or none. Today's scorecard tells you less than you'd think, and that's the point.
- [Day 28: Poppy seed](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-28.md): Four weeks today. Your baby is about 2 mm, about the size of a poppy seed, and today you put one on a plate and look.
- [Day 29: The missed period](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-29.md): A missed period is often the first sign, and the test works better a week after it. Today: how to test, when, and what to do with a positive.
- [Day 30: Booking the first visit](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-30.md): One phone call today. What to have written down before you dial, when the first visit usually falls, and why earlier is better.
- [Day 31: What's in the bottle](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-31.md): Folic acid, iron, calcium, vitamin D, and a ceiling on vitamin A. Today you read the prenatal vitamin label and check the numbers.
- [Day 32: Ten minutes a day](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-32.md): 150 minutes of exercise a week sounds like a lot until you cut it into ten-minute walks. Today you take the first one.
- [Day 33: Safer foods](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-33.md): Pregnant women are a higher-risk group for Listeria. Today you walk the fridge with the CDC's list: heat it to 165°F, or skip it.
- [Day 34: Who knows, and when](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-1/day-34.md): The last day of your first month. Today you and your partner decide who you'll tell now, who at the scan, and who later.

## Your second month of pregnancy, day by day

Days 35 to 62: the brain, spine, and heart begin, a heartbeat, limb buds and paddle hands, the first appointment, folic acid, nausea and tiredness, and what to avoid, with one thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2

- [Day 35: The week most people find out](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-35.md): Five weeks: the week a late period becomes a test, what the test can and can't tell you, and the first call to make once the line appears.
- [Day 36: The first heartbeat](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-36.md): The heart starts to form around now. Today's small, unglamorous job is adding one line to your first-visit list: please test me for STIs.
- [Day 37: A stronger nose](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-37.md): The face is taking shape, and so is your sense of smell. Today you map the smells that turned on you and hand the list to whoever cooks.
- [Day 38: Cravings, and the odd one](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-38.md): Wanting pickles is ordinary. Wanting to eat dirt or ice is a question for your provider. Today you keep a short list of both.
- [Day 39: The flu shot, any trimester](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-39.md): Flu hits harder in pregnancy. The shot is recommended in any trimester and protects the baby for months after birth. Today you pick the date.
- [Day 40: The worry that comes with the news](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-40.md): Worry and anxiety are common in early pregnancy, and not something you caused. Today you get every worry onto one page and sort it.
- [Day 41: The partner's week](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-41.md): The last day of week 5 is for the other adult in the house: one question for the first visit, and a few plain words about how the news lands.
- [Day 42: The size of a pea](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-42.md): Six weeks: limb buds, the start of ears, and the week morning sickness tends to arrive. Today you set a snack every one to two hours.
- [Day 43: What the evidence says about ginger](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-43.md): Everyone has a nausea cure. A review of 41 trials found little good evidence for any of them. Today you test ginger on the only subject that matters: you.
- [Day 44: Before any pill](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-44.md): Vitamin B6 and an over-the-counter combination have real evidence behind them for nausea. Today you write the question for your provider before you try either.
- [Day 45: Rest as much as possible](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-45.md): The NHS's advice for this week is four words long. What sleep looks like in the first trimester, and one early night to plan.
- [Day 46: When sickness is more than sickness](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-46.md): Most morning sickness is mild. Today: what hyperemesis gravidarum is, the numbers that mean a call, and a once-a-week habit that catches it early.
- [Day 47: Sips, not gulps](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-47.md): The small drinks that stay down. Why between meals beats with meals this week, and how to keep a bottle within reach all day.
- [Day 48: Vitamin D, and the sun](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-48.md): Folic acid has a number you know by now. Vitamin D has one too, and two countries say it differently. Today you find yours on the label.
- [Day 49: A grape, and a lemon](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-49.md): Seven weeks. Your baby is the size of a grape, your womb the size of a lemon, and your blood volume is climbing. Today is about fluid.
- [Day 50: Lifting at work](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-50.md): Most people keep working through pregnancy. Today: the 20-pound line for lifting, the jobs worth a question, and the painkillers to skip.
- [Day 51: Standing all day](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-51.md): If your job keeps you on your feet, today you ask for fifteen minutes an hour. Plus the small habits that lower swelling and bladder infections.
- [Day 52: Heat](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-52.md): Pregnancy makes hot days harder: your body is cooling two people. Today you write a three-line heat plan and take it to your provider.
- [Day 53: Trips and long sits](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-53.md): Travel is generally fine if you're comfortable. Today: the walk-every-hour rule, what to pack, and the clot signs that mean care right away.
- [Day 54: Mood, named](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-54.md): Mood swings are expected this week. Today is about telling an ordinary low day from something that needs help, and where to turn.
- [Day 55: Headaches](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-55.md): Headaches are common this week. A two-minute diary finds your triggers, and here is what to ask before you take anything for one.
- [Day 56: Paddle hands](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-56.md): Eight weeks: the embryo is now a foetus, and the booking visit is in sight. Today you write the five questions you'll take to it.
- [Day 57: The dating scan](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-57.md): The first ultrasound is due between 8 and 14 weeks. What it looks for, why it may be a vaginal scan, and the full-bladder trick.
- [Day 58: Up in the night](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-58.md): Night bathroom trips are breaking your sleep. The NHS fix is to shift your fluids earlier, not drink less. Here is how to do it.
- [Day 59: What the first blood test looks for](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-59.md): The first-visit blood panel, item by item, so no result surprises you. Plus the one line you need about being Rh-negative.
- [Day 60: The honest page](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-60.md): The one page in this series about miscarriage: what the numbers say, what bleeding does and doesn't mean, and the card for the fridge.
- [Day 61: Money, relationships, the rest](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-61.md): The NHS says to ask for support with money and relationships this week. A fifteen-minute conversation about one worry, no fixing allowed.
- [Day 62: An inch on the ruler](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-2/day-62.md): The last day of your second month. Find 16 mm on a ruler, photograph it next to something of yours, and trust what you notice.

- [Day 63: Accept the help](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-63.md): Nine weeks. Hormones are at their loudest, and the NHS's advice is two words long: rest, and accept help. Today you write down what help would look like.
- [Day 64: Screening, explained once](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-64.md): Nine weeks and a day. Prenatal screening starts to come up around now. One plain explanation of what it is, what it isn't, and the question to ask at your visit.

- [Day 69: What should ease](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-69.md): Nine weeks and six days, the last day of week nine. The sources give rough weeks for when nausea and tiredness usually lift. Today you write them next to your own list.
- [Day 70: Six small meals](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-70.md): Ten weeks. Progesterone has loosened your digestion, and the bloating shows it. The NHS's fix is six smaller meals, no late eating, and slowing down. Plan tomorrow's six today.
- [Day 71: A walk after eating](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-71.md): Ten weeks and a day. The NHS's other fix for bloating is a short walk after meals. Ten minutes after dinner also starts your 150 minutes a week. Shoes on before the dishes.

- [Day 76: Heartburn at night](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-76.md): Why progesterone gives you heartburn, why a stack of pillows doesn't fix it, and the six-inch lift under the head of the bed that does.
- [Day 77: Fingers and toes, separating](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-77.md): Eleven weeks: fingers and toes are separating and tiny nails are forming. Today you write the baby a short note, dated, and keep it somewhere safe.
- [Day 78: Tummy pain, by severity](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-78.md): Most pulls and twinges this week are muscles and ligaments stretching. Today you write a three-rung ladder so you know which pain is a call.
- [Day 79: Running hot](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-79.md): More blood means more heat. Why you sweat and feel dizzy at eleven weeks, and the cool-down kit to carry so a warm day doesn't flatten you.

- [Day 81: Discharge, the normal kind](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-81.md): More discharge is normal in pregnancy. Today you learn your normal, white and milky, so a change in color, smell or itch is obvious and quick to report.
- [Day 82: The walk that helps the tiredness](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-82.md): Gentle walking may help the tiredness of the placenta taking over. Today: ten slow minutes outside on your most tired afternoon, and a note on whether it helped.
- [Day 83: The visit map](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-83.md): About ten appointments and two scans in a first pregnancy. Today you draw the months on one page and pencil in the visits and tests you already know about.
- [Day 84: The scan that sets the date](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-84.md): Twelve weeks. The dating scan can confirm the pregnancy, count how many, check the heart rate and move your due date. Three questions to take in with you.
- [Day 85: How much to gain](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-85.md): Most of the weight comes after week 20. Today you find your own range from your pre-pregnancy BMI, write one number to track with your provider, and rule out dieting.

- [Day 88: The family history page](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-3/day-88.md): Half of your baby's DNA came from each side. Today you write one page of both families' health history to hand to your provider.

- [Day 198: On your side from now](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-198.md): Twenty-eight weeks and two days. From 28 weeks, sleeping on your side is safest. Tonight you build a pillow setup that keeps you there.
- [Day 199: Two pulses](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-199.md): Twenty-eight weeks and three days. Your heart beats about 80 to 85 times a minute; your baby's about 140. Today you count yours and see the gap.
- [Day 200: Where will the baby sleep](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-200.md): Twenty-eight weeks and four days. Crib, bassinet, or play yard: today you decide where your baby will sleep, and what goes in it (almost nothing).
- [Day 201: Feet up](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-201.md): Twenty-eight weeks and five days. Puffy ankles are common now, especially in the heat. Tonight you put your feet up for an hour, on purpose.

- [Day 203: The birth plan, page two](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-203.md): Twenty-nine weeks. Your baby is fully formed. Today the birth plan gets its second page: what your birth partner does, and what you'd rather avoid.
- [Day 204: The vaccine checklist](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-204.md): Twenty-nine weeks and one day. Some vaccines in pregnancy protect your baby for months after birth. Today you list four and tick what's done.
- [Day 205: Up in the night, again](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-205.md): Twenty-nine weeks and two days. More trips to the bathroom at night, and a baby who wakes when you lie down. Tonight you light the way.
- [Day 206: Housing, money, the relationship](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-206.md): Twenty-nine weeks and three days. The NHS puts money, housing and relationship worries on the list for your midwife. Today you write yours down.
- [Day 207: Eleven weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-207.md): Twenty-nine weeks and four days, with about eleven weeks to go. Today you turn the time left into one line per week, so nothing lands in the last fortnight.
- [Day 208: The route](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-208.md): Twenty-nine weeks and five days. Today you learn the way to the hospital, the entrance you'll use, and the numbers to keep handy, before anyone needs them.
- [Day 209: Preterm signs, refreshed](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-209.md): Twenty-nine weeks and six days. A five-minute refresher on the signs of early labour, with the numbers that tell you to call, while everything is calm.
- [Day 210: Strange dreams](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-210.md): Thirty weeks. Vivid, unsettling dreams are common now, fuelled by hormones and worry. Today you write one down, then say it out loud to someone.
- [Day 211: Twenty centimetres](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-211.md): Thirty weeks and one day. Your baby's eyes can focus now, and after birth they'll see a face about 20 to 25cm away. Today you measure that distance.
- [Day 212: The three stages](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-212.md): Thirty weeks and two days. Labour has three stages, and knowing their shape takes some of the fear out. Today you read them once and write three questions.
- [Day 213: First clothes](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-213.md): Thirty weeks and three days. You don't need a wardrobe yet. Today you put together a small basket: going-home clothes, a few first outfits, a receiving blanket.
- [Day 214: The RSV decision](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-214.md): Thirty weeks and four days. An RSV vaccine in pregnancy can protect your baby through their first months. Today you find out which one, when, and whether it fits you.
- [Day 215: The COVID question](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-215.md): Thirty weeks and five days. The AAP and the CDC pages describe the COVID-19 vaccine in pregnancy differently. Today you write one question for your provider.
- [Day 216: Stress, said out loud](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-216.md): Thirty weeks and six days. Stress gets smaller when someone else hears it. Today you spend fifteen minutes saying the loudest worry out loud.
- [Day 217: Head down, or not yet](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-217.md): Thirty-one weeks. Your baby may be head down or head up right now, and both are normal at this point. Today you ask which way, and write it down.
- [Day 218: Tightenings](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-218.md): Thirty-one weeks and one day. Your bump may tighten for half a minute and let go. Today you time one, so you know what practice feels like.
- [Day 219: The mattress](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-219.md): Thirty-one weeks and two days. A borrowed crib can be a fine crib, but the mattress matters most. Today you check it fits snugly and stays very firm.
- [Day 220: How you'll feed](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-220.md): Thirty-one weeks and three days. Your baby is practising sucking. Today you and your partner talk through how you'd like to feed, with no verdicts.
- [Day 221: The sling](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-221.md): Thirty-one weeks and four days. A sling is easier to learn before there's a baby in it. Today you try one on with a rolled towel, and check the fit.
- [Day 222: Hello, every day](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-222.md): Thirty-one weeks and five days. Your baby will start recognising voices from outside the womb. Tonight your partner starts a one-minute evening hello.
- [Day 223: The bag, round one](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-7/day-223.md): The last day of your seventh month. The hospital bag doesn't need packing yet, but it needs a place. Today it goes open on a chair, with five things inside.

## Your eighth month of pregnancy, day by day

Days 224 to 251: bones formed but soft, a half pound a week, head down, the group B strep test, the hospital bag, feeding plans, preterm labor signs, and the pediatrician visit, with one thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8

- [Day 224: The same as yesterday](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-224.md): Thirty-two weeks, and your eighth month begins. Your baby's movements should keep their pattern until birth. Tonight you start a one-word check.
- [Day 225: The stroller](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-225.md): Thirty-two weeks and one day. If you're getting a stroller, now is a good time to choose it. Today you test one properly: brakes, height, fold, and the trunk.
- [Day 226: The shorter route](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-226.md): Thirty-two weeks and two days. The bump may be changing how you walk. Today you plan a loop you can finish without strain, with a bench halfway round.
- [Day 227: The RSV shot, this week or soon](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-227.md): Thirty-two weeks and three days. The window for the pregnancy RSV vaccine runs from 32 weeks to the end of week 36. If you decided yes, today you book it.
- [Day 228: Rest breaks](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-228.md): Thirty-two weeks and four days. Tiredness is common now, and the NHS's answer is rest through the day. Today you put two ten-minute breaks in the diary.
- [Day 229: Who will be the baby's doctor](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-229.md): Thirty-two weeks and five days. The AAP suggests meeting pediatricians in the final months of pregnancy. Today you get two names and make one call.
- [Day 230: Names](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-230.md): Thirty-two weeks and six days. Your baby is starting to recognise voices. Tonight the two of you each bring three names, and nobody vetoes anything.
- [Day 231: The car seat](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-231.md): Thirty-three weeks. Your baby's first ride home needs a rear-facing car seat. Today you choose one approved for newborns and buy it new.
- [Day 232: One inch](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-232.md): Thirty-three weeks and one day. A car seat is only as safe as its fit. Today you install it and give it the AAP's one-inch test at the belt path.
- [Day 233: The technician](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-233.md): Thirty-three weeks and two days. The AAP suggests having a trained technician check your car seat before the birth. Today you find one and book it.
- [Day 234: Painful or regular](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-234.md): Thirty-three weeks and three days. Most tightenings now are practice. Today you put the three words that mean a call on the fridge.
- [Day 235: An afternoon off](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-235.md): Thirty-three weeks and four days. You're carrying an extra couple of kilograms, and it shows by mid-afternoon. Today you book one afternoon with nothing in it.
- [Day 236: The pool](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-236.md): Thirty-three weeks and five days. Walking and swimming are generally safe in pregnancy, and the water takes the weight. Today you book thirty minutes in the pool.
- [Day 237: The older child](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-237.md): Thirty-three weeks and six days. If there's already a child at home, today is about them: a book about a new baby, an honest conversation, and big changes timed well.
- [Day 238: Dropping](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-238.md): Thirty-four weeks. Your baby's head may be moving down into your pelvis: easier breathing, more trips to the toilet. It doesn't mean labor is close.
- [Day 239: Speak up](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-239.md): Thirty-four weeks and one day. If something about your care has been bothering you, the NHS's advice this week is plain: speak up. Today you write the two sentences.
- [Day 240: If the baby comes early](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-240.md): Thirty-four weeks and two days. Most babies wait for full term, but some don't. Today you write a three-line plan for an early arrival, and then put it away.
- [Day 241: What newborns look like](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-241.md): Thirty-four weeks and three days. Newborns don't look like the babies in adverts. Today you make a list of five normal things, so nobody panics in the first minutes.
- [Day 242: The bathroom map](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-242.md): Thirty-four weeks and four days. With your baby lower down, the toilet calls more often. Today you plan your usual outings around where the bathrooms are.
- [Day 243: Weekly from 36](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-243.md): Thirty-four weeks and five days. In nine days your checkups usually go weekly. Today you put those slots in the calendar before anything else takes them.

- [Day 246: Perineal massage](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-246.md): Thirty-five weeks and one day. A Cochrane review found that massage once or twice a week from 35 weeks modestly reduced stitches after a first vaginal birth.
- [Day 247: The first feeds](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-247.md): Thirty-five weeks and two days. Your body is already making early milk. Tonight you read the newborn guide's feeding section together, before anyone is tired.
- [Day 248: Under the ribs](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-248.md): Thirty-five weeks and three days. Sore ribs are usually a foot in the wrong place. Today you learn the one kind of rib pain that's a phone call, not a stretch.
- [Day 249: The penicillin question](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-249.md): Thirty-five weeks and four days. If you've ever been told you're allergic to penicillin, today is the day to ask whether that's still true, before labor.
- [Day 250: The numbers, updated](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-250.md): Thirty-five weeks and five days. The call card you made in your second month needs the numbers for the end: labor and delivery, the backup, and the way in.
- [Day 251: The bag, round two](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-8/day-251.md): The last day of your eighth month. The bag you opened four weeks ago gets finished today, zipped, and stood by the door, and one vaccine gets a last check.

- [Day 257: Feeding support](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-257.md): Thirty-six weeks and five days. Feeding is learned by two beginners at once. Today you find two people you could call about it in the first week.
- [Day 258: The partner's bag](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-258.md): Thirty-six weeks and six days. Her bag is packed. Today the partner packs their own: charger, snacks, clothes, and the card with every number on it.
- [Day 259: Term, and early term](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-259.md): Thirty-seven weeks. The NHS calls your baby full term now; US guidance calls it early term. Today you learn both words, and the question to ask about 39.

- [Day 262: The backup](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-262.md): Thirty-seven weeks and three days. Your provider may not be on shift when labour starts, so today you find out who covers and write the name down.
- [Day 263: Leaning forward](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-263.md): Thirty-seven weeks and four days. Your baby's head may be moving down into your pelvis. Today you try sitting forward, and we're honest that it isn't proven.
- [Day 264: Read the newborn guide](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-264.md): Thirty-seven weeks and five days. Today you and your partner read one section of the newborn guide together, so the first week holds fewer surprises.
- [Day 265: A plan for your mood after](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-265.md): Thirty-seven weeks and six days. Baby blues pass in days; depression lasts longer. Today you choose who checks on you at two weeks, and save the numbers.
- [Day 266: Names to call](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-266.md): Thirty-eight weeks. Most of the fine body hair is gone. Today you write five names on the fridge, each with one job they could do if plans change.
- [Day 267: If it's a cesarean](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-267.md): Thirty-eight weeks and one day. Nearly 1 in 3 US births is by cesarean. Today you read the recovery rules once, so nobody is surprised by them later.

- [Day 271: The sibling's plan](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-271.md): Thirty-eight weeks and five days. If there's an older child at home, today you settle who has them, day and night, while you're in the hospital.
- [Day 272: Bare is best](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-272.md): Thirty-eight weeks and six days. The crib gets one fitted sheet and nothing else. Today you strip it bare, move it from the window, and agree on the rules.
- [Day 273: The show](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-273.md): Thirty-nine weeks. A "show" of mucus can come days before labour, or not at all. Today you write down what's normal and what kind of bleeding means call.

- [Day 275: The emergency list](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-275.md): Thirty-nine weeks and two days. Some signs can't wait for your next appointment. Today you put the list on the fridge, next to the numbers you'd call.
- [Day 276: If the waters go](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-276.md): Thirty-nine weeks and three days. Waters often go as a trickle, not a gush. Today you write the four things to note before you call: the time, the colour, the smell, and you.
- [Day 277: The first minute](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-277.md): Thirty-nine weeks and four days. Within a minute of birth, someone checks your baby five ways. Today you read what they look for, so the checks don't frighten you.

- [Day 280: Your due date](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-month-9/day-280.md): Forty weeks. Your due date is an estimate, and labour can start up to two weeks after it. Today: a slow walk, the bag by the door, and nothing else planned.

## Past your due date, day by day

Days 281 to 294: the two weeks after the due date, why most babies come when they come, monitoring, membrane sweeps and induction, kick counts, and the day your baby's first notes begin, with one thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-past-due

- [Day 282: Still counting](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-past-due/day-282.md): Two days past your due date. The one check you can do at home, every day until the birth: how your baby moves, and what to do if it changes.
- [Day 283: How they check on the baby](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-past-due/day-283.md): Three days past your due date. What a nonstress test and a biophysical profile are, so the extra appointments this week aren't a surprise.
- [Day 284: The methods](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-past-due/day-284.md): Four days past your due date. The ways labor can be induced, as MedlinePlus lists them, and one question to ask about each before you need to.

- [Day 288: Peeling skin](https://chorevia.com/learn/pregnancy-past-due/day-288.md): Eight days past your due date. Overdue babies often arrive with red, dry, peeling skin. Why it happens, and why the NHS says to leave it alone.

- [Day 10: Tummy to play](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-10.md): How much tummy time a newborn needs, what to do when they hate it, and why a slow walk is good medicine for you too.
- [Day 11: Your voice](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-11.md): Your baby has known your voice since before birth. Today is about using it: parentese, reading aloud, and saying the hard things out loud too.
- [Day 12: Hearing](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-12.md): Your baby's ears were working before you met. What they hear, how slowly they turn toward it, and the one screen result to check today.
- [Day 13: Skin and small worries](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-13.md): Bumps, pimples, peeling, sneezes, hiccups, swollen bits, breathing that pauses: what's normal on a two-week-old, and the few things that aren't.
- [Day 14: Two weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-14.md): A checkpoint, not a test: weight, jaundice, the cord stump, and the honest question about how you feel now that the blues should be lifting.
- [Day 15: Crying](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-15.md): How much newborns really cry, what the evidence says about soothing, and the plan for the moment you've had enough. None of it is your failure.
- [Day 16: Bath day?](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-16.md): If the cord stump is off and healed, today could be the first real bath: two inches of warm water, never alone, three a week is plenty. And a long shower for you.
- [Day 17: Touch](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-17.md): Skin-to-skin at home, done safely, and why it's the partner's turn today: what a small trial of fathers found, and the split-night script.
- [Day 18: Head and neck](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-18.md): Why everyone says 'watch the head,' what the neck is quietly working on, two floor positions to rotate, and the lifting rules for your own body.
- [Day 19: Cues and serve-and-return](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-19.md): Your baby has been talking to you for nineteen days. How to read hungry, full, tired, and had-enough, and the five-step back-and-forth that builds a brain.
- [Day 20: Sleep, honestly](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-20.md): They aren't sleeping through, and won't for months. What tilts the odds toward nights, safe sleep at three weeks, and a protected stretch for you.
- [Day 21: Three weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-21.md): Three weeks in: most babies are back to birth weight, a hungrier stretch may be starting, and the famous copycat study is still being argued over.
- [Day 22: Feeding, week four](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-22.md): How much and how often babies eat as the month ends, how a full baby tells you, and the difference between spit-up and vomiting.
- [Day 23: What your baby watches](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-23.md): Faces first, then bold patterns: what your baby looks at near the end of the first month, and a small pleasure to plan for yourself today.
- [Day 24: Outside](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-24.md): A walk is fine whenever you feel up to it. How to dress your baby for the weather, carry them safely, and keep germs and sun away.
- [Day 25: The whole family](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-25.md): Siblings, grandparents, and partners all have a job: how to share the load specifically, keep germs away, and let people help.
- [Day 26: The soothing toolkit](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-26.md): The AAP's soothing list, what research shows about white noise and the 5 S's, and the break rule every caregiver should know.
- [Day 27: Diapers and digestion](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-27.md): What's in the diaper as month one ends: the colors that are fine, how often is normal, the two colors that mean call, and your own digestion too.
- [Day 28: Four weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-28.md): The 1-month checkup is close: what it covers, the depression screen you'll be asked, the questions to bring, and a gentle look at what your baby can do.
- [Day 29: What's changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-29.md): What has already changed in four weeks of feeding, weight, crying, and awake time, and where month two is headed.
- [Day 30: One month](https://chorevia.com/learn/first-month/day-30.md): A month in. What many babies can do by about now, what you have done, and a keepsake to make today before the tiny grip fades.

## Your second month, day by day

Days 31 to 60: first smiles, the crying peak, tummy time and head shape, coos, your six-week visit, and the 2-month checkup, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month

- [Day 31: Month two](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-31.md): A new month: real smiles are on their way, crying is near its heaviest, and milestones now mean what most babies do by two months, not a test for today.
- [Day 32: The witching hour](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-32.md): Evening crying is at its heaviest this month. What colic actually means, how common it is, and a carrier walk for the hour when nothing else works.
- [Day 33: Tummy time, four ways](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-33.md): Heads come up this month. Why tummy time matters now, how common flat spots are and how mild, and four positions so that short sessions add up.
- [Day 34: Hands](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-34.md): Fists start to open, hands start to catch your baby's attention, and some find the mouth. A short hand game for diaper changes, and a note on your own hands.
- [Day 35: Five weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-35.md): Five weeks: how fast babies grow now, how much a bottle holds, why the evenings are all feeding, and a gentle leg-and-tummy game for between feeds.
- [Day 36: Coos](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-36.md): Sounds other than crying arrive this month. What the turn-taking research found, how to leave room for your baby's reply, and why you should speak up too.
- [Day 37: Eyes](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-37.md): Your baby's eyes start to follow this month, and faces come into focus by about eight weeks. A slow side-to-side game, and why your own vision changes are urgent.
- [Day 38: Sleep, without training](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-38.md): How much sleep a baby this age needs, why night waking is still expected, what the sleep training research actually studied, and a wind-down you can repeat.
- [Day 39: What helps crying, and what doesn't](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-39.md): Gas drops, diet changes, probiotics, special formulas: what the reviews found before you spend a dollar, plus one soother that's free and on the AAP's list.
- [Day 40: Your face, when it stops](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-40.md): The still-face experiment shows babies from about one month notice when you stop responding. A two-second version to play, and why the return is what matters.
- [Day 41: A round head](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-41.md): Flat spots are common and mostly mild. Today: the small position changes that keep your baby's head round, and the head tilt worth mentioning at the checkup.
- [Day 42: Six weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-42.md): Six weeks: for many babies the heaviest crying starts to ease soon, and for you it's time for the postpartum visit. Book it today, and bring the whole list.
- [Day 43: Words](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-43.md): Your baby can't follow a story yet, and reading to them still counts. Today: picture talk, why the AAP says to start at birth, and a warm, free place to do it.
- [Day 44: Sounds](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-44.md): Reacting to loud sounds and turning toward a voice: what hearing looks like at six weeks, the follow-up test that can't wait, and why you need a quiet hour too.
- [Day 45: Bath time](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-45.md): Tub baths are routine by seven weeks: two inches of water, one hand on the baby, three a week is plenty. Plus cradle cap, baby acne, and a long shower for you.
- [Day 46: Faraway family](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-46.md): Video chat is the one screen the AAP allows for a baby this young. Today: how to make a call work for a six-week-old, and who else can hold the baby this week.
- [Day 47: Back to work, part one](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-47.md): If a return date is on the calendar: your pumping rights under the PUMP Act, practicing bottles now, and the paced way to give one so your baby stays in charge.
- [Day 48: Toys and attention](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-48.md): Looking at a toy for several seconds is a 2-month milestone. Today: the floor, one bold toy, the right distance, and why nothing ever goes in the crib.
- [Day 49: Seven weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-49.md): Calms when picked up, looks at your face, seems happy to see you, smiles back: the social milestones of month two, and a lap-to-lap tour of everyone's smile.
- [Day 50: Tummy time on a lap](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-50.md): For the baby who hates the floor: tummy time across your lap with a back rub, why short sessions add up to the daily total, and a stretch for your own shoulders.
- [Day 51: The milestone look](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-51.md): The CDC's 2-month list as a gentle look at your baby, not a test: why 'wait and see' is out, and what to write down for the checkup, about you included.
- [Day 52: Shot day is coming](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-52.md): What the 2-month visit covers, the vaccines the AAP lists and why to ask which schedule your pediatrician follows, and a soothing routine to practice before the shots.
- [Day 53: The safe play spot](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-53.md): Some babies start working on rolling at 2 months. Stop swaddling at the first signs, never leave your baby alone on a raised surface, and set up a floor spot today.
- [Day 54: Watching you move](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-54.md): Your baby's eyes are starting to follow you across a room. A slow walk to test it today, and why moving more yourself is medicine after birth.
- [Day 55: Open hands](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-55.md): Fists are loosening. Why hands open briefly now while the grasp reflex still holds on, and a one-minute palm game for diaper changes.
- [Day 56: Eight weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-56.md): By about eight weeks faces come into focus and some colors stand apart. A slow two-color game for today, and a look at eight weeks of your own recovery.
- [Day 57: Carrier to crib](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-57.md): Babies fall asleep in carriers, swings, and car seats. Why the nap should finish on a firm, flat surface, and a handoff to practice the next time it happens.
- [Day 58: Footprints](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-58.md): Two months of growth in numbers, what the 2-month visit measures, and a footprint keepsake to make today while the feet are this small.
- [Day 59: What's next](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-59.md): A look ahead at months two to three: longer coos, steadier tracking, more smiles. A doorway game for today, and the 12-week deadline for your own visit.
- [Day 60: Two months](https://chorevia.com/learn/second-month/day-60.md): Two months in. The CDC list as a 'by about now' celebration, the crying curve bending for most families, and a short video to make today.

## Your third month, day by day

Days 61 to 90: after the shots, the crying curve bends, chuckles, hands that reach and grasp, cause and effect, back to work, and the swaddle's goodbye, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month

- [Day 61: Month three](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-61.md): The 4-month list is the road ahead, not today's test. Which newborn reflexes fade when, the first hints of personality, and forearm push-ups on the floor.
- [Day 62: After the shots](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-62.md): What's normal after the 2-month vaccines, the one exception at this age (any fever is a call), the rotavirus signs, and comfort steps backed by evidence.
- [Day 63: The crying curve bends](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-63.md): Crying drops to about an hour a day by 10 to 12 weeks, and colic nearly disappears. Plus a two-minute check for a shriek that sounds different.
- [Day 64: Who gets the big smile](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-64.md): Your baby is sorting out who's who: the big smile for you, a hesitant one for the sitter, a stare for strangers. Looking away is control, not rejection. Plus a chuckle hunt.
- [Day 65: Hands find each other](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-65.md): Fists relax, hands open and shut and meet in the middle, and hands and eyes start working together. Why the drool isn't teeth, and a clapping game for changing time.
- [Day 66: Duets](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-66.md): A coo is a turn. When adults take turns instead of talking over a baby, the baby's sounds get more speechlike. The parentese voice you already use, and a script.
- [Day 67: Nine weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-67.md): What a good sleeper is at nine weeks, how wide the normal range for sleeping through is, why night feeds shift rather than vanish, and the whispered night feed.
- [Day 68: Eyes, month three](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-68.md): By 3 months, babies focus on faces and close objects and follow a moving one; colors come by 4 months. A mirror on the floor, and why your own vision changes are still urgent.
- [Day 69: Cause and effect](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-69.md): A classic experiment: 3-month-olds learn that a kick moves the mobile, and remember it. This month's first lesson: my actions make things happen. Kick and see.
- [Day 70: Reaching](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-70.md): Swipes at things just out of reach are the start of reaching. What two small studies found about practice, the circle of toys, and why the floor beats the seat.
- [Day 71: Ten weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-71.md): Ten weeks old: how fast your baby is growing, the soft spot at the back closing, and a two-minute head-shape check to do while the hair is still wet from the bath.
- [Day 72: Grasp](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-72.md): Fists are relaxing into hands that open, shut, and hold on. What grasping looks like this month, why the reflex and the real thing overlap, and a rattle to put in that palm.
- [Day 73: Goodbye, swaddle](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-73.md): Rolling can start as early as 2 months, and the swaddle has to end at the first sign of it. What the evidence says, what to switch to, and a plan for making the change tonight.
- [Day 74: Feeding, month three](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-74.md): Cues over the clock, what a hand in the mouth does and doesn't mean, the ounces question answered honestly, and a bottle habit that keeps your baby in charge of the feed.
- [Day 75: Back to work, part two](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-75.md): If a return date is close: the 12-week leave mark, how often to pump and how much to leave, the storage rules by the hour and the day, and bottle practice with someone who isn't you.
- [Day 76: Child care](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-76.md): The numbers that make a good infant room, why a written safe sleep policy matters more than the decor, what to hand over about your baby, and a visit to do before the first day.
- [Day 77: Eleven weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-77.md): Eleven weeks old: why the AAP says to read from birth, what a big replication found about the baby voice, and five minutes of rhymes on your lap that count as all of it.
- [Day 78: Family life is the lesson](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-78.md): Your baby is watching how the house runs. Why narrating the laundry counts as language time, how to give an older child a real first job, and the one hot-drink rule.
- [Day 79: Floor over seats](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-79.md): Why the floor beats the bouncer this month, the one-hour limit on strapped-in time, what a big review found about tummy time, and a circle of toys to lie down inside.
- [Day 80: Standing on your lap](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-80.md): Legs that push, a head that holds steadier each week, and a bounce on your lap that is play, not practice. Plus the one thing about your own body to raise at the postpartum visit.
- [Day 81: Safe to mouth](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-81.md): Everything goes in the mouth now, and that's how babies learn. Which things are safe to mouth, which never are, and a basket of three to keep by the play mat.
- [Day 82: Siblings](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-82.md): An older child and a baby on the same floor: the rules that make it safe, the supervised floor time the AAP suggests, and a big kid's first family job.
- [Day 83: Twelve weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-83.md): Colic is usually gone by three months. A baby who finds their own hands to calm down, why that's a skill and not a habit, and twelve weeks of you.
- [Day 84: Both of you](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-84.md): Partners get postpartum depression too, and scary thoughts are common in new mothers. What's typical, what means help today, and one song you both sing.
- [Day 85: Hot, sharp, and buckled](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-85.md): A baby who reaches and grabs changes the kitchen and the car. Hot drinks, bath water, bouncer seats on the floor, and a car-seat harness rechecked against a bigger baby.
- [Day 86: Rolling, tummy to back](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-86.md): Kicks are stronger, and some babies roll by month three, tummy to back first. Why the floor is now the only place to leave them, and a gentle roll rehearsal.
- [Day 87: Thirteen weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-87.md): The 4-month checkup is the next fixed point: what it covers, the second round of shots under the AAP schedule, the screen about you, and a gentle early look at the 4-month list.
- [Day 88: What's coming](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-88.md): Regular sleep cycles arrive around 4 months, and sleep training is next month's question at the earliest. What that means for tonight, and one daytime nap in the crib.
- [Day 89: Three months, part one](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-89.md): What changed in 90 days: crying down from two hours to about one, smiles, hands that reach, a head held high. A look back, and the day-one photo taken again.
- [Day 90: Three months](https://chorevia.com/learn/third-month/day-90.md): A quarter of a year. The 4-month list as 'by about now, some babies', what you've done in 90 days, the hotlines once more, and the guide for months three to four.

## Your fourth month, day by day

Days 91 to 120: laughs, grabbing, first rolls, a steadier head, depth and color, sleep reorganizing, the drowsy-but-awake question, and the 4-month checkup, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month

- [Day 91: Month four](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-91.md): A new month and a new list. What the 4-month milestones mean, what's on the 6-month list ahead, corrected age, and a first reach-and-grab on the floor.
- [Day 92: Laughs](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-92.md): Laughter first shows up at about 4 months on average, and your own laugh is part of how a baby learns what's funny. Chuckles, looking away, and the raspberry game.
- [Day 93: Grabbing](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-93.md): Reaching starts at about 3 months and grasping follows by 4: the mitten grip, why everything heads for the mouth, when the pincer grasp comes, and a toe-discovery game.
- [Day 94: First rolls](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-94.md): Rolling usually starts around 3 to 4 months, tummy to back first. What changes for sleep when it does, why no raised surface is safe for a second, and a roll-over helper on the floor.
- [Day 95: A steadier head](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-95.md): By 4 months most babies hold their head steady when held. How tummy time builds it, the one sign to raise between 4 and 7 months, and a look-around game on the floor.
- [Day 96: Depth and color](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-96.md): By 4 months babies see colors and shades better and love circular patterns; depth vision shows up in the lab at about 16 weeks. Why seeing an edge isn't fearing one.
- [Day 97: Fourteen weeks: new sounds](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-97.md): Strange new sounds, a new sensitivity to your tone, squeals and raspberries ahead, and true babble later. Copy the sound, add a word, and keep the sharp voice for adults.
- [Day 98: Sleep is reorganizing](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-98.md): What's actually changing in sleep around 4 months, why the '4-month sleep regression' isn't a research term, what longer stretches look like, and a three-step bedtime to start tonight.
- [Day 99: Drowsy but awake, and the pause](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-99.md): From 4 months the AAP suggests laying babies down drowsy, not asleep, and stepping up slowly before you pick up a fussing baby. What that is, what it isn't, and the step-up to try.
- [Day 100: One hundred days](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-100.md): A hundred days in. How growth works now, why slower gains from 3 months are normal in breastfed babies, feeds that get interrupted by the world, and a quiet corner to feed in.
- [Day 101: Drool, and the teething question](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-101.md): The wet chin started weeks ago and teeth are months off for most babies. What teething does and doesn't cause, and something cool to gum, held by you.
- [Day 102: Hidden things come back](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-102.md): Sometime after 4 months, babies start to grasp that a thing out of sight still exists. Peekaboo is the lesson, and it works on tired parents too.
- [Day 103: Your family song](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-103.md): A song your baby hears from you, at the same moments every day, becomes a cue they recognize. Why the melody is social, and why the song is yours to pick.
- [Day 104: Fifteen weeks: books](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-104.md): The AAP recommends shared reading from birth, and one trial found fewer behavior problems years later. A board book on your lap, and why the same three books forever is fine.
- [Day 105: Sharing the nights](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-105.md): Parents' sleep bottoms out in the first 3 months and recovers slowly. The numbers, how to bank sleep, the drowsy-feed rules, and a written shift plan for tonight.
- [Day 106: A rough patch](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-106.md): Nights that were getting better and suddenly aren't. Days bright, nights boring, the routine held steady, and the one thing exhaustion must never move.
- [Day 107: Head shape check-in](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-107.md): Flat spots peak around 4 months and usually improve. The wet-hair check after the bath, the position swaps that help, and an hour of tummy time built from pieces.
- [Day 108: Falls: no safe second](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-108.md): Rolling can start without warning, and babies this age don't fear edges. Why the changing-table strap isn't enough, what to do if your baby fell, and the floor-change habit.
- [Day 109: Everything goes in the mouth](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-109.md): Grabbing on purpose means anything in reach ends up in the mouth. What's small enough to choke on, the cords and strings to clear, and a sweep of the play area at baby height.
- [Day 110: Walkers and seats](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-110.md): Baby walkers don't help babies walk and send thousands to hospitals; car seats are for the car; swings limit practice. Propped sitting on your lap instead, and the money you keep.
- [Day 111: Sixteen weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-111.md): The 4-month list, looked at gently one more time before the checkup: what most babies do by now, what a gap means, and why the answer is never to wait and see.
- [Day 112: The 4-month checkup](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-112.md): What today's visit covers, the second round of shots, how to make them easier (feed or suck, no medicine beforehand), what's normal after, and the screen that's about you.
- [Day 113: Feeding cues at four months](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-113.md): An open mouth at the sight of the breast or bottle is a 4-month milestone and the clearest hunger cue you'll get. Distracted feeds, pulling off, and the formula-at-night question.
- [Day 114: Big siblings as helpers](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-114.md): Babies this age are intrigued by other children. How to give an older child a real job with the baby, the one rule that never bends, and what to keep off the floor.
- [Day 115: Talk all day](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-115.md): Reading from birth, the parentese voice, and copying sounds back with a word added. Why talk aimed at your baby is what counts, and the one screen that's allowed.
- [Day 116: Seventeen weeks](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-116.md): Head steady when held is a 4-month milestone. A gentle pull-to-sit on the floor shows you what the neck can do now, and what it means if the head still lags.
- [Day 117: The dangling toy](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-117.md): By 4 months many babies reach for and grasp what they see. A toy held within reach gives hands, eyes, and a would-be roller something to work for, with you holding the other end.
- [Day 118: Getting your attention](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-118.md): By 4 months most babies look, move, or make sounds to get and keep your attention, and smile on their own to pull you in. A game that lets them call you first.
- [Day 119: What's next](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-119.md): What changed in 120 days, from two hours of crying to a chuckle, and what the 6-month list and the 4-month guide say is coming: laughs, raspberries, grabbing on purpose, rolling.
- [Day 120: Four months](https://chorevia.com/learn/fourth-month/day-120.md): The 4-month list as a celebration, not a score: chuckles, a steady head, hands that grab, a voice that answers. A third of a year done, and the next guide.

## Your fifth month, day by day

Days 121 to 150: rocking toward rolling, toy hand-offs, babble, cause and effect, the sleep-training question, teeth maybe, and the safety sweep for a baby who grabs, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month

- [Day 121: Month five](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-121.md): A new month begins: what's coming by 6 months (laughs, raspberries, rolling), corrected age if your baby came early, and the warning signs that are still about you.
- [Day 122: Rocking, kicking, swimming](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-122.md): The tummy rocking and arm 'swimming' that lead to rolling, which way most babies roll first, and what a baby who rolls changes about where they sleep.
- [Day 123: Toy hand-offs](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-123.md): From bringing things to the mouth to a raking grip, then hand to hand and the pincer: what the hands are working on, and why no special gear is needed.
- [Day 124: Babble begins](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-124.md): Babbling often starts around 4 months with the rise and fall of your own language. Copy the sound, then add a word, and count how many turns you can keep going.
- [Day 125: I can make things happen](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-125.md): Around 4 months babies discover that a kick shakes the mat and a wave rattles the rattle. What that memory looks like in the lab, and a safe way to stage the concert.
- [Day 126: Eyes and spirals](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-126.md): At 4 months babies see colors and shades better and may love circles and spirals, which is one reason faces win. Mirror time today, and the eye signs worth a call.
- [Day 127: Eighteen weeks: sleep at 4 to 5 months](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-127.md): Eighteen weeks: how much sleep babies this age need, why 'sleeping through' varies so much from baby to baby, and the short bedtime routine with the best evidence behind it.
- [Day 128: If you're thinking about sleep training](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-128.md): Optional, and only if night waking is wearing you down: the basics first, gradual versus checking, what the trials found and at which ages, and the rules that never bend.
- [Day 129: Calm with less](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-129.md): The AAP's ladder for a fed, changed, rested baby who's still fussy: your eyes, then your voice, then a hand on their chest, and only then picking up. Practice it by daylight.
- [Day 130: Doubling](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-130.md): Many babies double their birth weight at about 4 months. Milk is still the only food and drink, cereal in the bottle is a choking risk, and a bathroom scale makes a keepsake.
- [Day 131: Mouthing, made safe](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-131.md): Everything goes in the mouth now, and that's learning. The small-parts test, why household things aren't tested, batteries and magnets, and a basket of safe things to gum.
- [Day 132: Teeth, maybe](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-132.md): Teething usually starts between 4 and 7 months, but drool alone doesn't prove a tooth is coming. What research found, what helps sore gums, and the products to skip.
- [Day 133: The name game](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-133.md): Your baby knows the sound of their own name long before they turn to it. Why to say it often, what a lab study found at 4½ months, and a one-minute game.
- [Day 134: Nineteen weeks: temperament](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-134.md): Easygoing, intense, or slow to warm up: your baby's style is showing. What calms each kind, the script for a visiting relative, and a slow-approach game to try.
- [Day 135: Floor time beats container time](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-135.md): WHO's numbers for this age: floor play several times a day, 30 minutes of tummy time, and no more than an hour at a time strapped in. Plus a one-day tally to see where you stand.
- [Day 136: Peekaboo, month five](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-136.md): Sometime after 4 months, babies begin to learn that hidden things come back. Why the famous study is contested, why anticipation is the real game, and a cloth version to try.
- [Day 137: Books, month five](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-137.md): Shared reading from birth is the AAP's advice, and a randomized trial found fewer behavior problems years later. How to read to a baby who eats the book, and a point-and-name game.
- [Day 138: Lap bounce songs](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-138.md): Feet on your thighs, hands under the arms, and a rhyme with a pause before the big finish: leg strength, rhythm, and laughter in one song. Plus a word about your pelvic floor.
- [Day 139: Solids: not yet](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-139.md): Watching you eat isn't a green light. CDC and WHO put first foods at about 6 months, what the readiness signs are, the iron and vitamin D questions, and a no-food high-chair rehearsal.
- [Day 140: Twenty weeks: safe sleep for a roller](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-140.md): Rolling changes the rules: the swaddle ends at the first attempt, the back is still where every sleep starts, and a baby who rolls both ways can be left. Walk the crib tonight.
- [Day 141: Falls happen fast now](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-141.md): Rolling can start the moment you look away, and babies this age don't fear edges. One hand on the baby on any raised surface, every time, and what to do if a fall already happened.
- [Day 142: Burns and hot drinks](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-142.md): Grabbing hands reach mugs now. The two rules that prevent most scalds, no baby plus hot drink and a water heater at 120°F, and the counter habit that makes them automatic.
- [Day 143: The car seat as they grow](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-143.md): Rear-facing to the seat's limits, a convertible seat when the infant seat is outgrown, straps at or below the shoulders, chest clip at the armpits, and the pinch test that checks it all in a minute.
- [Day 144: Sun](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-144.md): Babies under 6 months stay out of direct and indirect sun: shade, light long sleeves, a wide-brimmed hat, and no outings from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Why daylight still matters, and a shade walk to try.
- [Day 145: Fever at 4 to 5 months](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-145.md): 100.4°F is a fever. At 3 to 6 months that means a call within 24 hours, sooner for 104°F or a baby who seems very sick. The thermometer rules, the medicine rules, and a practice run on a well day.
- [Day 146: Talk, pause, and copy](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-146.md): Serve and return at 5 months: copy the sound, add a word, say your turn, and wait. Why the pause is the whole trick, and a turn-counting game to see how long you can keep it going.
- [Day 147: Twenty-one weeks: both of you](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-147.md): The 4-month depression screen just happened. Partners get depressed too, and 3 to 6 months is the window one review flagged. The question to ask each other tonight, and the hotlines.
- [Day 148: Family life is the curriculum](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-148.md): No lessons needed. Your baby learns from watching you cook, fold, and water plants while you say what you're doing. Why the chores count as talk time, and a laundry narration to try.
- [Day 149: What's next](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-149.md): What changed in 150 days, from two hours of crying to a baby who chuckles and grabs, and what the 6-month list and the 5-month guide hold next: rolling, sitting with support, first foods.
- [Day 150: Five months](https://chorevia.com/learn/fifth-month/day-150.md): Five months. The 6-month list as coming soon, for most: laughs, raspberries, rolling, straight arms. What you've done in 150 days of answering, a first-roll video to keep, and the next guide.

## Your sixth month, day by day

Days 151 to 180: rolling both ways, tripod sitting, babble, the allergen plan, iron, teeth, a roller's sleep, the floor over containers, water and cord safety, and the 6-month checkup, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month

- [Day 151: Month six](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-151.md): A new month: the 6-month list your baby is heading for (laughs, raspberries, rolling, pushing up on straight arms), corrected age if they came early, and the warning signs that are still about you.
- [Day 152: Rolling both ways](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-152.md): Rocking, kicking, and swimming lead to rolling, tummy to back first for most. What the range looks like, what rolling changes about sleep, and a toy placed just past the shoulder to tempt a roll.
- [Day 153: Tripod sitting](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-153.md): Leaning forward on both hands is how sitting starts. When babies stay upright on their own, why propping is practice rather than a shortcut, and your own back when you join them on the floor.
- [Day 154: Babble back](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-154.md): Babble takes on the rhythm of your language, one favorite sound at a time. Why a reply that comes right after the babble matters, what strings like babababa mean, and why you need a reply today too.
- [Day 155: My name](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-155.md): Babies prefer the sound of their own name by about 4.5 months, but looking up when you call it is a 7-to-9-month skill. A game that sits in the gap, and a thought about hearing your own name.
- [Day 156: Shake, bang, drop](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-156.md): Wave the rattle and it rattles; drop the spoon and you pick it up. Your baby is running experiments on cause and effect, and the endless game of fetch is the point, not the price.
- [Day 157: Twenty-two weeks: mirrors and faces](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-157.md): Your baby's brain is tuning in to the faces it sees most. What three lab studies found, why naming the people your baby meets is an easy habit, and a photo book of the faces that matter.
- [Day 158: The eczema question](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-158.md): If your baby has severe eczema or an egg allergy, the peanut question is for now, not for the 6-month visit. The LEAP numbers, the three NIAID groups, and one sentence to write down.
- [Day 159: Peanut and egg, around six months](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-159.md): For most babies, peanut and egg come around 6 months, at home, with no test first, and the later servings matter most. The baby-safe forms, the two-hour watch, and a plan on the calendar.
- [Day 160: Not before you're both ready](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-160.md): Readiness for solids is four signs, not a date. What the AAP, WHO, and a Cochrane review say about six months, who should wait, and a way to watch for the signs at dinner tonight.
- [Day 161: Iron and vitamin D](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-161.md): Milk is still the whole menu, and it carries almost everything. Two things it may not: iron, which runs low around now, and vitamin D. What the AAP says, and the one question to write down.
- [Day 162: First foods that carry iron](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-162.md): There's no required order for first foods, but the AAP wants iron in the first ones: pureed meat or iron-fortified cereal. Write the list today, buy nothing yet, and leave rice off the top of it.
- [Day 163: Gear, kept simple](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-163.md): A high chair with a harness you buckle every time, a soft spoon, a bib, and later a small cup. That's the whole kit. Today your baby takes a seat at the table, with nothing on the tray.
- [Day 164: Twenty-three weeks: teeth, honestly](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-164.md): First teeth usually come between 6 and 10 months, and teething gets blamed for far more than it does. A week of notes on paper shows you what it actually looks like in your baby.
- [Day 165: Gums](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-165.md): What helps sore gums is cheap and already in your house: a clean finger, a firm rubber teether, a cold damp washcloth. What to skip is on the FDA's list, and some of it is sold as a gift.
- [Day 166: Clean gums, first tooth](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-166.md): Wipe the gums after feeds, no bottles in bed, no shared spoons. When the first tooth shows, a rice-grain smear of fluoride toothpaste twice a day and a dentist by the first birthday.
- [Day 167: Naps and nights at five months](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-167.md): Twelve to 16 hours a day, at least two naps, and a night that half of 5-month-olds sleep through and half don't. Write today's naps on paper and look for the pattern, not the exceptions.
- [Day 168: Swaddle off, pacifier loose](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-168.md): A baby who tries to roll is a baby who's done with the swaddle, tonight. The pacifier stays, unclipped. Back to start every sleep, in your room, and leave them be once they roll both ways.
- [Day 169: Floor over containers](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-169.md): Baby walkers sent an estimated 230,676 US children to emergency rooms over 25 years, mostly down stairs, and they don't teach walking. The floor does the job for free, and the WHO wants plenty of it.
- [Day 170: Twenty-four weeks: shy, for now](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-170.md): Temperament is getting clearer, and some babies are already wary of new faces. About 1 in 4 are quite fearful at 6 months, and half of those grow out of it. Let visitors warm up first.
- [Day 171: Lap bounces and splashes](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-171.md): Two free games for strong legs and a body your baby is learning to feel: bouncing on your lap, and kicking the bath water with your hand on them the whole time.
- [Day 172: Water, one inch](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-172.md): Babies can drown silently in an inch or two of water, and most bathtub drownings involve babies under 1. The setup that keeps your hand where it belongs for the whole bath.
- [Day 173: Cords, blinds, necklaces](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-173.md): About nine young children a year die in window-cord strangulations, in under a minute. A room-by-room walk for cords, the crib's spot, and anything around a neck.
- [Day 174: Grabbing hands, hot drinks, small things](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-174.md): The three everyday hazards that arrive with a reaching, rolling baby: a fall from furniture, a mug within arm's reach, and anything small enough to swallow.
- [Day 175: Back blows, chest thrusts](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-175.md): What choking looks like in a baby, the two moves that clear it, and why the class that teaches them is for everyone who ever holds your baby, booked today.
- [Day 176: Car seat, sun, six months](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-176.md): Rear-facing to the seat's limits, a convertible seat when the infant seat runs out, and the sun rule that changes at six months. Read the label on the side of the seat today.
- [Day 177: Screens: video chat only](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-177.md): No screens before 2, except video calls with people your baby loves. Why a running commentary while you cook beats any app, and how to make the one allowed screen count.
- [Day 178: Before the 6-month visit](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-178.md): What the 6-month checkup covers, which shots join the routine, the question the pediatrician will ask you, and the five questions to walk in with on paper.
- [Day 179: What six months changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-179.md): The 6-month list as a look back, not a test: what most babies do around now, what you did every day to get here, and the photo and letter for the box.
- [Day 180: Six months](https://chorevia.com/learn/sixth-month/day-180.md): Half a year. What the next guide holds, first bites, gagging versus choking, the sleep-training research, and where the daily notes continue. Record the sit, then rest.

## Your seventh month, day by day

Days 181 to 210: first bites, one new food at a time, peanut and egg early and often, gagging versus choking, cups, the drop game, the first tooth, night waking, babyproofing, and seven months, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month

- [Day 181: Month seven: first bites](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-181.md): Solids start when the readiness signs are there, not when the calendar says so. The signs, why milk is still the main meal, and the six-month list once more as 'most babies, around now'.
- [Day 182: Half a spoonful](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-182.md): Start smaller than feels right: half a spoonful or less, a little milk first, and a week off if it comes straight back out. The sweet-potato script, and why the mess is the point.
- [Day 183: One new food, three to five days](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-183.md): One single-ingredient food at a time, a few days apart, so a reaction has a name. No required order, fruit first is fine, and iron leads. Today the food diary begins.
- [Day 184: Rotate the grains](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-184.md): Rice soaks up more arsenic than other crops, so rice cereal shouldn't be the first or only one. Oat, barley, multigrain, and what the AAP says heavy metals in baby food add up to.
- [Day 185: Peanut, this week or next](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-185.md): Three groups, one recipe, two hours of watching. The NIAID home-feeding steps for peanut, egg on another day, and the exact signs that mean a call or 911.
- [Day 186: Keep it coming](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-186.md): The first taste matters less than the next thirty. The weekly peanut target, what the EAT and LEAP trials found about sticking with it, and why your own diet is no shortcut.
- [Day 187: Twenty-six weeks: gagging is normal](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-187.md): A gag is loud and expected at six months. Choking is silent. The two lists, the five back blows and five chest thrusts, and the drill you say out loud with your partner tonight.
- [Day 188: Spoon, fingers, or both](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-188.md): Spoon-feeding and baby-led weaning both work, and the trials say the label matters less than the shape of the food and the eyes on the baby. Today, a strip of avocado on the tray.
- [Day 189: Sips of water](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-189.md): A few sips of water from a cup are fine now, up to 4 to 8 ounces a day, and juice, cow's milk, and honey all wait for the first birthday. Today, the first open cup.
- [Day 190: The foods that wait](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-190.md): Hot dogs, whole grapes, nuts, popcorn, raw apple, and the rest of the choking list wait until after the first birthday, with honey, juice, and cow's milk. Today it goes on the fridge.
- [Day 191: Hungry, full, done](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-191.md): Closed lips, a turned head, a hand on the spoon: your baby already says when they're done. How to read hunger and fullness, and why a grimace isn't a verdict.
- [Day 192: Meals together](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-192.md): The AAP encourages a seat at family meals from the very first feeding. Why the table matters more than the menu, and how one calm meal a day can work on a weeknight.
- [Day 193: Sitting, in steps](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-193.md): Tripod first, then upright once you set them there, then sitting alone around 9 months. The WHO's wide window, and the crib mattress that goes down tonight.
- [Day 194: Twenty-seven weeks: hand to hand](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-194.md): Between 6 and 8 months, babies learn to pass a toy from one hand to the other and turn it over. The two-toy test, bouncing feet, and the pincer grasp still to come.
- [Day 195: Roll to reach](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-195.md): Many babies roll both ways by the end of this month, and the floor is where it happens. A toy just out of reach, the WHO's case for floor play, and why the walker is still a no.
- [Day 196: The drop game](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-196.md): The spoon goes over the side again. Dropping on purpose is how babies learn that they make things happen, and the pick-up has a limit that you get to set.
- [Day 197: Things come back](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-197.md): Toward the end of this month, many babies start to grasp that a hidden toy still exists. The 1985 study, the 1999 reply, and why a single look proves nothing either way.
- [Day 198: Imitating sounds](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-198.md): From about 6 or 7 months, babies get much better at copying the sounds you make, and a reply right after their babble is what shapes it. The echo game, and the 7-month line.
- [Day 199: Words before words](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-199.md): Every babble answered builds language. 'Bah' becomes 'ball' and 'box', you name what they look at, and baby sign is fine for fun, but talking is what builds words.
- [Day 200: Day two hundred](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-200.md): Two hundred days: a first smile, a first laugh, a first roll, a first bite. The 6-month list as the frame, corrected age for babies born early, and a letter to put away.
- [Day 201: Reading and pointing](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-201.md): Five to ten minutes a day with a board book, a finger on the picture, and a name for it. Why the AAP recommends shared reading from birth, and why the same book is fine.
- [Day 202: Twenty-eight weeks: the first tooth](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-202.md): Most first teeth arrive between 6 and 12 months, lower front first, and some babies have none by one year. What teething does and doesn't do, and the first brush with a rice-grain smear.
- [Day 203: Varnish and water](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-203.md): Fluoride varnish prevented about 37% of decay in baby teeth in a Cochrane review. Whether your tap water is fluoridated, why fluoride drops are contested, and the one question to ask.
- [Day 204: Night waking at six months](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-204.md): Waking and resettling at six months is normal, and a study of 388 babies found no link between sleeping through and development or a mother's mood. The routine comes before any method.
- [Day 205: If you decide to sleep train](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-205.md): Sleep training is a choice, not a requirement. Two trials found no harm to attachment a year later and no lasting harms or benefits at age 6. How two adults decide, together, or decide not to.
- [Day 206: Shy, clingy, new people](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-206.md): Stranger anxiety normally shows up between 7 and 12 months, and being shy or clingy is on the 9-month list. Watching from your arms, saying when you leave, and a goodbye ritual that holds.
- [Day 207: Babyproof before they move](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-207.md): A baby who rolls both ways and reaches for everything is weeks from moving across a room. The floor-level sweep, the furniture anchors, and the one number to save before it's needed.
- [Day 208: Sun after six months](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-208.md): From 6 months, sunscreen is fine on uncovered skin: broad-spectrum SPF 15 or higher, mineral if you can, reapplied every 90 minutes to 2 hours, with shade still first. And the car seat, as they grow.
- [Day 209: Fever and head bumps now](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-209.md): After 6 months the fever lines shift: call right away above 104°F, and 103°F may be a call too. Every head bump under 1 is a call. Two lists for the fridge, and a third for you.
- [Day 210: Seven months](https://chorevia.com/learn/seventh-month/day-210.md): First bites, first allergens, maybe a first tooth, and a sit that holds. What seven months changed, what the 9-month visit will ask, and where these notes go next.

## Your eighth month, day by day

Days 211 to 240: the 7-to-12-month guide, sitting and getting there, crawling or not, raking and banging, mamamama, thicker textures and the family table, choking, out of sight, the yes space, stranger wariness, night waking, childproofing, batteries, water, screens, and eight months, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month

- [Day 211: Month eight: a new guide](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-211.md): The 7-to-12-month guide takes over today. The 9-month list is the frame for the weeks ahead, read as 'most babies by 9 months,' and crawling isn't on it.
- [Day 212: Sitting, then getting there](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-212.md): Sitting without support and getting into a sit alone are both 9-month skills, and healthy babies first sat alone anywhere from 3.8 to 9.2 months. The reach that builds balance, and the mattress.
- [Day 213: Crawling, or not](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-213.md): Crawling is usually mastered between 7 and 10 months by the babies who crawl, 4.3% never crawl on hands and knees, and CDC took it off the checklists. A cushion course for any kind of mover.
- [Day 214: Raking](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-214.md): Raking food toward themselves with the whole hand is on the 9-month list; the thumb-and-finger pincer usually comes around 9 months. A tray of soft bits no bigger than half an inch, and a clear floor.
- [Day 215: Hand to hand, bang bang](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-215.md): Moving things from one hand to the other and banging two things together are both on the 9-month list. Two blocks, one bang, and why the spoon dropped forty times is an experiment.
- [Day 216: Mamamama](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-216.md): Lots of different sounds like 'mamamama' and 'bababababa' are a 9-month skill, and babies reshape their babble within minutes when it's answered right away. The syllable volley.
- [Day 217: Twenty-nine weeks: thicker textures](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-217.md): Smooth purees give way to mashed and lumpy this month, then finely chopped. Why a fork beats the blender now, and what a UK cohort of 7,821 children found about lumps that came after 9 months.
- [Day 218: Three meals, two snacks, by nine months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-218.md): At 9 months the AAP suggests 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day, with breast milk or formula still the main drink and 4 to 8 ounces of water. The direction of travel, mapped around tomorrow's naps.
- [Day 219: Baby at the family table](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-219.md): The AAP encourages family meals from the first feeding: the high chair pulled up to the table, soft pieces of what everyone eats, and your baby's cues, not the plate, deciding when it's over.
- [Day 220: Choking, this month](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-220.md): Finger foods bring the choking rules back: pieces no larger than half an inch, the not-before-1 list, a silent baby versus a noisy one, and the five-and-five. Cut tonight's food and check it.
- [Day 221: Out of sight](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-221.md): By about 8 months, many babies lift a cloth to find a hidden toy, and looking for dropped things is on the 9-month list. The towel game, and why the spoon keeps going over the side.
- [Day 222: In and out](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-222.md): Putting a block in a cup is a 12-month milestone, so this month is the warm-up: dumping, refilling, and the low cabinet of pots and lids that beats any toy you can buy.
- [Day 223: The yes space](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-223.md): Put tempting and dangerous things out of reach so you need "no" less often, say what to do instead of what not to, and save "no" for safety. The AAP's discipline advice, in one cabinet.
- [Day 224: Redirect, don't punish](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-224.md): Spanking was linked to worse results on 13 of 17 outcomes and better on none, and hitting a baby under 18 months raises the risk of injury. The move for this age is the swap, practiced with a smile.
- [Day 225: Thirty-one weeks: mirror faces](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-225.md): By 9 months, most babies show several facial expressions: happy, sad, angry, surprised. A mirror, a nose, and a name for each face, from the AAP's own list of games for this stage.
- [Day 226: Stranger wariness begins](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-226.md): Shy, clingy, or fearful around strangers is on the 9-month list, and it isn't caused by spoiling. What a study of 1,285 twins found about how fear usually rises, and the slow way to let a visitor in.
- [Day 227: Separation anxiety, early](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-227.md): Separation anxiety usually gets stronger around 9 months and peaks between 10 and 18 months. Never sneak away, say the same short goodbye every time, and practice it on a trip to the kitchen.
- [Day 228: Night waking returns](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-228.md): Babies this age need 12 to 16 hours of sleep, usually 9 to 12 at night plus two naps, and separation anxiety can bring night waking back. The quiet reassurance: one sentence, one hand, then out.
- [Day 229: Night feeds: ask first](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-229.md): Many babies this age don't need to eat at night and some still do. The AAP's line on formula after 2 to 4 months, why growth comes first, and the one question to write down for the 9-month visit.
- [Day 230: Childproof at crawling height](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-230.md): Gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, mounted to the studs, never accordion-style; windows opened from the top; outlets plugged; walkers skipped. The gate check, and one room a day.
- [Day 231: Tip-overs](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-231.md): A baby who kneels at the dresser will soon pull up on it. CPSC counted 234 tip-over deaths in 22 years, 199 of them children. Anchoring one piece is an afternoon's work, and today is the afternoon.
- [Day 232: Button batteries and magnets](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-232.md): A coin battery stuck in the throat can do severe damage in 2 hours. Where they hide, the tape, the locked drawer, the ER with the hotline on the way, and why the honey advice isn't for babies yet.
- [Day 233: Thirty-two weeks: hot drinks, again](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-233.md): Hot liquids in cups and mugs cause 27% to 60% of scald burns in children under 5. The rule you kept all summer becomes, today, the rule for everyone who walks through the door.
- [Day 234: Water, three inches of it](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-234.md): A bath is three inches deep; a baby can drown in 1 or 2, silently, within seconds. The seat that tips, the bucket by the door, the toilet lid, and the one hand that never leaves the baby.
- [Day 235: Medicines and Poison Help](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-235.md): Child-resistant caps aren't childproof. Cleaners, alcohol, the pills in your bag and your guests' bags, vaping liquid, edibles, and the free number every caregiver saves today.
- [Day 236: Screens before one](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-236.md): The WHO recommends no screen time under 1, and the AAP calls TV and apps a bad idea before 18 months. A TV on in the background cuts how much you talk. One hour off, with the sentences counted.
- [Day 237: Follow the point, before the point](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-237.md): Pointing to ask for things is a 15-month milestone, but the looking has started. Name what your baby stares at, ten things a day, the same name each time: the study behind it.
- [Day 238: The urge to help](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-238.md): Chores are a year away, but the urge is starting: 12-month-olds point to help an adult find a lost object, and 18-month-olds help for nothing. Pass a toy, ask for a sock, say thank you.
- [Day 239: What eight months changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-239.md): Lying to sitting, raking to passing, coos to syllables: what the last eight months built, and the 9-month visit next month with its screening questionnaire. Today's photo makes no claims.
- [Day 240: Eight months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eighth-month/day-240.md): Eight months. The 9-month list as a celebration, not a test; the sitting, scooting, or crawling video with no claims attached; the hotlines once more, lightly; and where the notes go next.

## Your ninth month, day by day

Days 241 to 270: the 9-month list, looking when you call, arms up, goodbyes, peekaboo, the pincer, finger foods, cups, crawling and pulling up, walkers, pointing, shoes, nights, the safety walk, bye-bye and pat-a-cake, vaccines, the 9-month visit, and nine months, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month

- [Day 241: Month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-241.md): Eight months old today. The 9-month list is now one month out, the checkup at the end of this month brings a developmental screening questionnaire, and corrected age still counts.
- [Day 242: Looks when you call](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-242.md): Looking when you call their name is a 9-month skill, and babies recognized the sound of their own name in a lab at 4.5 months. The name from across the room, and when a no-look is a call.
- [Day 243: Lifts arms to be picked up](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-243.md): Lifting their arms to be picked up is on the 9-month list, and it's the first gesture most babies use on purpose. Wait for the arms before you lift, and lift with your legs when you do.
- [Day 244: Reacts when you leave](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-244.md): Looking, reaching, or crying when you leave is a 9-month milestone. Separation anxiety usually strengthens around 9 months and peaks between 10 and 18. The guide's practice goodbyes, today.
- [Day 245: Peekaboo, month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-245.md): Smiling or laughing at peekaboo is a 9-month skill, built on a baby who now knows you're still there behind the door. Peekaboo behind the door, and why the laugh is the whole reward.
- [Day 246: Pincer practice](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-246.md): The thumb-and-finger pincer usually arrives around 9 months, and picking up small bits of food with it is a 12-month skill. Pincer picking at the tray, and why the floor sweep is now a daily job.
- [Day 247: Thirty-three weeks: words that aren't words yet](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-247.md): Syllables like 'ba,' 'da,' and 'ma,' a baby who understands more than they say, and the rule that 'mog' for milk counts as a word. Talk back with words, and the pause that's hard for you.
- [Day 248: The finger-food plate](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-248.md): Banana, scrambled eggs, well-cooked pasta, chopped cooked chicken, cooked potatoes or peas: the AAP's first finger foods, cut to half an inch, with you at the table. The five-food plate.
- [Day 249: Three meals and snacks](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-249.md): At 9 months the AAP suggests 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks a day, with breast milk or formula still the main drink and 4 to 8 ounces of water. The snack shelf: two snacks planned, not grazed.
- [Day 250: Cups in](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-250.md): Offer a cup at meals now and finish moving off bottles between 12 and 18 months, says the AAP; open, straw, or valveless sippy all work. The meal cup, and a plan for the bottles instead of a fight.
- [Day 251: Crawling, the honest version](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-251.md): Hands-and-knees crawling started anywhere from 5.2 to 13.5 months in the WHO's study, and 4.3% of babies never did it. Scooting counts, one-sidedness is a call, and the crawl chase.
- [Day 252: Pulling up, the first try](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-252.md): Pulling up to stand often comes before knowing how to get back down. It's a 12-month milestone, so today is the first try, the knee-bend lesson, and the crib mattress at its lowest.
- [Day 253: Walkers, once more](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-253.md): Baby walkers sent an estimated 230,676 US children to emergency rooms from 1990 to 2014, mostly down stairs, and they delay walking. New walkers take 2,368 steps an hour on the floor. The floor hour.
- [Day 254: Thirty-four weeks: answering babble](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-254.md): Babies reshape their babble when it's answered right away, and coaching parents in parentese at 6, 10, and 14 months increased back-and-forth turns. Five minutes of parentese on purpose.
- [Day 255: Following the point](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-255.md): Pointing to ask is a 15-month milestone, but the stare and the reach are here now. Talk about what your baby is already looking at predicted the first gestures and words. Follow the point.
- [Day 256: Shoes, no](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-256.md): Babies don't need shoes until they walk outside, and 'supportive' shoes have no proven benefit. Bare feet on a rug, a cold floor, and grass today, and the fit rules for later.
- [Day 257: Night waking, month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-257.md): Separation anxiety usually gets stronger around 9 months and can bring back night waking. Reassure quietly, then leave; ask before cutting night feeds. The two-minute check.
- [Day 258: Sleep training, if you're doing it now](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-258.md): Sleep training is a choice, not a requirement. Trials of 43 and 326 children found no lasting harm either way. Routine first, then pick a method you can keep, and write it down.
- [Day 259: Fever at eight months](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-259.md): A thermometer, not a forehead. Call within 24 hours for a fever past 2 days with nothing else, any fever past 3 days, or one that comes back; 104°F right away. The seizure sentence, said aloud.
- [Day 260: The nine-month safety walk](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-260.md): Gates, windows, outlets, cords, small things, tip-overs, batteries, magnets, hot drinks, water, and poisons: the whole list in one walk through the house, two adults, half each.
- [Day 261: Bye-bye and pat-a-cake](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-261.md): Waving bye-bye and playing pat-a-cake are 12-month milestones, and babies copy the gestures they see toward the end of the first year. Thirty-five weeks: the wave, done for them until they do it.
- [Day 262: Redirect, month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-262.md): By 12 months most babies pause at 'no,' so save it for danger. Model, swap, and get every caregiver on the same three rules. No spanking, ever: under 18 months it raises the risk of injury.
- [Day 263: Banging and dropping, on purpose](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-263.md): Banging two things together is a 9-month milestone, and once a baby can let go on purpose, dropping becomes a favorite game. The pot-and-spoon drum, and why the kitchen floor is a classroom.
- [Day 264: Mirror, month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-264.md): Several facial expressions, happy, sad, angry, surprised, are on the 9-month list. In front of a mirror, name the one you see. The mirror weather report, for the baby and then for you.
- [Day 265: Reading, month nine](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-265.md): Board books with simple pictures of familiar things, pointed at and named the same way every time, and the same book again tomorrow. Point-and-name pages, and ten pages of your own.
- [Day 266: New people, slowly](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-266.md): Shy, clingy, or fearful around strangers is a 9-month milestone, and even favorite relatives can make a baby cry by swooping in. The lap introduction: ten minutes on your lap before anyone holds them.
- [Day 267: Vaccines at nine months](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-267.md): A third polio dose if it wasn't given earlier, a flu shot every year from 6 months, COVID for 6 through 23 months, and schedules that differed in 2026. The vaccine question, in writing.
- [Day 268: Thirty-six weeks: before the 9-month visit](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-268.md): The 9-month checkup brings a developmental screening questionnaire, a full exam, sleep and pulling-up questions, and fluoride varnish once teeth are in. The nine-month list: five questions in writing.
- [Day 269: What nine months changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-269.md): From lying to sitting, from raking to pinching, from coos to syllables, maybe a first wave. The 12-month list as what's next, the tenth-month notes ahead, and the nine-month photo and letter.
- [Day 270: Nine months](https://chorevia.com/learn/ninth-month/day-270.md): Nine months. The visit is around now; the screening is a conversation, not a test; early intervention is free and needs no referral. The after-visit note, the hotlines once more, and what's next.

## Your tenth month, day by day

Days 271 to 300: pulling up and getting down, cruising, the push box, walking's honest range, the pincer, letting go on purpose, pointing, hand it to me, waving, first words, separation anxiety, child care, nights, cups and bottles, cow's milk, finger foods, water, hot drinks, medicines, screens, and three hundred days, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month

- [Day 271: Month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-271.md): Nine months old today. The 12-month list is the new frame, read as 'by 1 year, most babies'; what the 9-month visit left you with; and corrected age, still.
- [Day 272: Pulling up](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-272.md): Pulling up to stand is a 12-month milestone that often arrives before the way down. Which furniture is safe to pull on, why the crib is the first gym, and the pull-up spot.
- [Day 273: Getting down](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-273.md): Up is the easy half. How to help a baby who's standing and stuck without lifting them, the honest count of falls once walking starts, and the soft landing.
- [Day 274: Cruising](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-274.md): Walking while holding on to furniture is a 12-month milestone, and it starts as a sideways shuffle. A line of sturdy furniture, the corners and edges at face height, and the cruise course.
- [Day 275: Push the box](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-275.md): CDC suggests letting babies push things around, like empty boxes, and says walkers aren't recommended. Why a diaper box beats a walker, where the route can't go, and the push-the-box walk.
- [Day 276: Walking: the honest range](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-276.md): Healthy babies walk alone anywhere from 8.2 to 17.6 months, steps alone is a 15-month milestone, and many aren't walking at 12. The standing count: seconds at the sofa, written down, no goal.
- [Day 277: Thirty-seven weeks: shoes, still no](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-277.md): Thirty-seven weeks. A cruising baby doesn't need shoes until they walk outside, and 'supportive' shoes have no proven benefit. The sock-off hour, and the fit rules for the day shoes do make sense.
- [Day 278: The pincer](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-278.md): The thumb-and-finger pincer usually arrives around 9 months; picking up small bits of food with it is a 12-month skill. One pea at a time to invite the pinch, and the floor, cereal to dust balls.
- [Day 279: Letting go on purpose](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-279.md): Once a baby can let go on purpose, dropping and throwing become favorite games, and the high-chair edge is the lab bench. Cause and effect, the drop zone, and when to stop picking it up.
- [Day 280: In the container](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-280.md): Putting something in a container is a 12-month milestone, and the dump comes before the fill. Wooden spoons, pots, and plastic tubs as the best toys, the low cabinet, and the cup and the block.
- [Day 281: Pointing is coming](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-281.md): Pointing to ask is a 15-month milestone, but gestures start toward the end of the first year, and what babies point at often becomes their words. The point-and-name walk.
- [Day 282: Hand it to me](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-282.md): Passing a toy back and forth is a 9-month turn-taking game, and the urge to help is starting: 12-month-olds point to show an adult where a lost object is. Hand it to me, with a thank-you.
- [Day 283: Waving and arms up](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-283.md): Lifting arms to be picked up is a 9-month milestone; waving bye-bye is a 12-month one. Gestures talk, and babies copy the ones they see. The gesture trio: wave, arms up, head shake, each named.
- [Day 284: Thirty-eight weeks: more sounds, first "word"](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-284.md): Syllables like 'ba,' 'da,' and 'ma,' a baby who understands more than they say, and the AAP's rule that any sound used the same way each time counts. The consistent-name day, for every adult.
- [Day 285: Answering, still](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-285.md): Your baby is now the age of the babies whose babble changed when it was answered right away. Talk with, not at: every babble gets three turns today, and the pause counts as one.
- [Day 286: Reading, month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-286.md): Board books with simple pictures, one word per page, and a baby who turns the pages now, however badly. The page turn is the activity, and the library is the field trip.
- [Day 287: Separation anxiety, in full](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-287.md): It peaks between 10 and 18 months and it's a sign of attachment. Never sneak away, keep the goodbye short and the same, come back when you said. The timed goodbye: two minutes by the clock.
- [Day 288: Child care, if it's starting](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-288.md): If you can, avoid starting child care in this window or ease in slowly, with extra time at drop-off. A familiar sitter helps; a new one arrives early. The drop-off rehearsal, you in the next room.
- [Day 289: New people, still slowly](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-289.md): Shy, clingy, or fearful around strangers is on the 9-month list, and the fear usually keeps rising for a while. Visitors go slowly, from your arms first. The slow handoff, one step at a time.
- [Day 290: Nights at ten months](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-290.md): Twelve to 16 hours a day, 9 to 12 at night plus two naps, and separation anxiety bringing the 2 a.m. cry back. Reassure quietly, then leave. The quiet return: two sentences, no lights, every time.
- [Day 291: Thirty-nine weeks: cups in, bottles out](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-291.md): The AAP's bottle plan: a cup at meals now, off bottles between 12 and 18 months, meal bottles kept longest, nap and bedtime ones dropped first. The bottle map, written tonight.
- [Day 292: Cow's milk: not yet](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-292.md): Around 12 months most babies switch to whole milk; before that, no cow's milk or substitutes as a drink. After the first birthday, about 16 ounces a day. The milk question, written down.
- [Day 293: Finger foods, month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-293.md): Finely chopped textures, half-inch pieces, the AAP's finger-food list, and the refused food offered again: tasting daily for 8 to 10 or more days raises acceptance. The refused-food return.
- [Day 294: Redirect, month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-294.md): Model what you want, use positive words like 'Time to sit,' save 'no' for safety, and swap the object. By 12 months most babies pause at 'no.' The positive-words day: every 'don't' rephrased.
- [Day 295: Water, month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-295.md): Babies can drown in 1 or 2 inches of water, silently, within seconds. No bath seat, buckets and wading pools emptied, toilet lids latched, pools fenced on 4 sides. The water sweep, one walk.
- [Day 296: Hot drinks and burns, month ten](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-296.md): Hot liquids cause 27% to 60% of scald burns in children under 5, and a cruising baby reaches the table edge now. No hot drink while holding the baby, mugs back, 120°F. The table-edge clear.
- [Day 297: Medicines, cleaners, batteries, magnets](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-297.md): Lock up cleaners and alcohol, keep every medicine out of reach including the ones in your bag, don't trust child-resistant caps. Poison Help, the battery hotline, magnets. The high-shelf hour.
- [Day 298: Fortieth week: screens before one, again](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-298.md): The WHO recommends no screen time under 1; the AAP calls TV and apps a bad idea before 18 months, with video chat the exception, and background TV cuts parent talk. The video call, named.
- [Day 299: What ten months changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-299.md): Standing, cruising, pinching, waving, maybe a first word: ten months in one look, the 12-month visit ahead with its anemia check, and the notes that continue. Ten-month photo and letter.
- [Day 300: Three hundred days](https://chorevia.com/learn/tenth-month/day-300.md): Ten months old. The 12-month list as what most babies do by a year, the guide for the stretch to the first birthday, hotlines once more, and where the notes go next. The standing video.

## Your eleventh month, day by day

Days 301 to 330: the almost-one list, first words, understanding no, things have uses, helping games, hidden toys, pat-a-cake, standing alone, first steps maybe, shoes, favoring a side, family food, the not-before-one list, the bottle wind-down, cups, whole milk ahead, nights, new fears, separation, the yes space at standing height, windows, tip-overs, the car seat, sun, fever, screens, the 12-month visit ahead, and eleven months, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month

- [Day 301: Month eleven](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-301.md): Ten months old today. The 12-month list read as what most babies do by a year, the two skills that aren't on it, corrected age, and the first birthday eight weeks off.
- [Day 302: "Mama," "dada," or something else](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-302.md): Most babies call a parent by a special name by 12 months, and few or no other clear words at the birthday is normal. Any sound used the same way each time counts. Start the word log.
- [Day 303: Understanding "no"](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-303.md): By 12 months most babies pause or stop at 'no.' Save it for things that matter, swap and redirect for the rest, expect it to be tested, and never hit. Today: the one real no.
- [Day 304: Things have uses](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-304.md): Hand over a cup, a spoon, a hairbrush, and be the audience when your baby copies you. Using things the right way is a 15-month skill; this is its first draft. The brush and the cup.
- [Day 305: First helping games](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-305.md): The urge to help shows up before the first birthday. Hand me a sock, drop the block in the bin, thank you. Family jobs come at a year; this is the seed. The block in the bin.
- [Day 306: Looking for the hidden toy](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-306.md): By 10 months a baby keeps searching for a toy they saw you hide, and by a year most find it. The classic two-cup study, and the game that proves memory: the two-cup hide.
- [Day 307: Forty-one weeks: pat-a-cake and games with you](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-307.md): Playing games with you, like pat-a-cake, is on the 12-month list, and copying gestures comes toward the end of the first year. Today, wait for the game they start and play it their way.
- [Day 308: Cruising to standing alone](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-308.md): Standing alone starts anywhere from 6.9 to 16.9 months and walking alone from 8.2 to 17.6. The moment between cruising and standing is letting go of the sofa for a second. Count it, no goal.
- [Day 309: First steps, maybe](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-309.md): Many babies take wobbly first steps around the first birthday; a few steps alone is a 15-month milestone. Walking is learned by thousands of steps and dozens of falls. The two-hands walk.
- [Day 310: Shoes, when it's time](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-310.md): No shoes until your baby walks outside. Then closed-toe, flexible, nonskid, with room to grow; no wedges or special arches; a pair lasts 2 to 3 months, so check the fit monthly. The shoe fit check.
- [Day 311: Favoring one side](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-311.md): Scooting, slithering, and crawling all count, as long as each arm and leg gets used. A side that's always favored is a note for the pediatrician, and early intervention is free. The both-sides watch.
- [Day 312: Three meals and family food](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-312.md): Finely chopped, soft, and the same as what you're eating: three meals and snacks at the family table, fullness cues ending the meal, refused foods coming back. The family plate, no separate dinner.
- [Day 313: The not-before-one list, one more time](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-313.md): Hot dogs, whole grapes, nuts, popcorn, chunks of anything; honey; cow's milk as a drink; juice. Two-thirds of choking deaths are babies under 1. Half-inch pieces, eyes on the baby. The grape cut.
- [Day 314: Forty-two weeks: the bottle wind-down begins](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-314.md): Bottles end between 12 and 18 months, so the first one goes now: keep the mealtime bottles, drop a nap or bedtime one, add cuddles and a story. Never a bottle in bed. The first bottle to go.
- [Day 315: Cups: open, straw, or sippy](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-315.md): Open, straw, or a sippy without a valve all work, and a cup you hold is on the 12-month list. Water up to 4 to 8 ounces a day, milk still the main drink. The three-cup trial, one at each meal.
- [Day 316: Whole milk at twelve months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-316.md): Around the first birthday most babies switch to whole cow's milk, not before; after, about 16 ounces a day and never more than 24. Breastfeeding goes on as long as you both want. The milk plan.
- [Day 317: Night feeds at ten months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-317.md): Many babies this age don't need to eat at night; some still do. Attention at every waking can teach waking. Growth first; the pediatrician decides with you. The water-not-milk night, or the question.
- [Day 318: Nights and naps at eleven months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-318.md): 12 to 16 hours a day, usually 9 to 12 at night plus two naps. Separation anxiety wakes; reassure quietly and leave. Write the naps and bedtime on paper and look for the shape. The nap-to-bedtime map.
- [Day 319: New fears](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-319.md): The dark, thunder, the vacuum: new fears are common now and arrive with separation anxiety. Name the feeling, stay close, don't force the thing. The vacuum from your arms, from across the room.
- [Day 320: Separation, still peaking](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-320.md): Ten months old is inside the 10-to-18-month peak. The ritual is the whole method: the same words, back when you said, extra time at drop-off. The goodbye, same words, from every adult who leaves.
- [Day 321: Forty-three weeks: the yes space, standing height](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-321.md): A standing baby reaches a shelf higher than a crawling one. The yes space moves up with them: the low cabinet, the swap, and the few rules every caregiver keeps. The standing-reach sweep.
- [Day 322: Windows, gates, cords](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-322.md): A screen won't stop a fall: window guards or windows opened from the top. Wall-mounted gates, no accordion style. Cordless coverings, and cords 3 feet from the crib. The window check.
- [Day 323: Tip-overs, standing baby](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-323.md): Dressers, bookcases, and TV stands are what a standing baby pulls up on. CPSC's numbers, the STURDY Act, and why anchoring still matters. The pull-up test: push every piece, anchor what moves.
- [Day 324: Car seat, month eleven](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-324.md): Rear-facing until the seat's top weight or height. Infant seats fit up to 22 to 35 pounds and 26 to 35 inches depending on the model; a convertible seat comes next, rear-facing. The outgrown check.
- [Day 325: Sun and outside, month eleven](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-325.md): Sunscreen on uncovered skin from 6 months, SPF 15 or higher, mineral, every 90 minutes to 2 hours, shade first. Outside at floor level is where cruising goes next. The outside hour.
- [Day 326: Fever at ten months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-326.md): A thermometer, not a hand on the forehead. The within-24-hours rules, the 104°F line, what to do in a febrile seizure, and why any head injury under 1 means a call. The fever card: three rules.
- [Day 327: Screens, the last month before one](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-327.md): The WHO recommends no screen time under 1; the AAP calls TV and apps a bad idea before 18 months, video chat excepted, and says background TV cuts your talk. The TV-off evening: count the turns.
- [Day 328: Forty-fourth week: the 12-month visit ahead](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-328.md): An anemia check and, depending on risk, lead; MMR, chickenpox, and hepatitis A at or soon after the birthday, on a schedule that differed in 2026, so ask which. The birthday-visit list, in writing.
- [Day 329: What eleven months changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-329.md): Standing, maybe a step with a hand held, pinching, pointing, a sound that means something, and a pause at "no": eleven months in one look, with the birthday ahead. Eleven-month photo and letter.
- [Day 330: Eleven months](https://chorevia.com/learn/eleventh-month/day-330.md): The 12-month list as most babies, around now or soon. The 7-to-12-month guide for this stretch, the 1-year guide as the next home, and the first-word video, whatever the word is. Eleven months, done.

## Your twelfth month, day by day

Days 331 to 365: the last-month list, pat-a-cake for real, bye-bye and hello, the special name, no understood, hidden and found, cruising and first steps, shoes, family food, choking, whole milk from the birthday, the bottle wind-down, iron, teeth, sleep, the first family jobs, the clean-up song, words for feelings, books, balls, the house at walking height, the car seat, fever, the 12-month visit, what a year changed, and one year, with one new thing to try every day. Index: https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month

- [Day 331: Month twelve](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-331.md): Eleven months old today. The 12-month list as what most babies do by a year, the 15-month list as the look ahead, corrected age, and the first birthday five weeks off.
- [Day 332: Pat-a-cake, for real](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-332.md): Playing games with you, like pat-a-cake, is on the 1-year list. Copying is how it starts, and the games they steer are the ones that teach. Pat-a-cake, their turn.
- [Day 333: Bye-bye, hello](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-333.md): Waving bye-bye is on the 1-year list, and a wave is a word before words. Every arrival and departure in the house gets a wave with a name on it today. The doorway wave.
- [Day 334: The special name](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-334.md): By 12 months most babies call a parent mama, dada, or another special name, and few other words is normal. Today, write down what they call each of you. The name they chose.
- [Day 335: "No," understood](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-335.md): By 12 months most babies pause or stop at no. Save it for danger, swap the object, model what you want, and expect it to be tested. The swap, month twelve.
- [Day 336: In the cup](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-336.md): Putting something in a container, like a block in a cup, is on the 1-year list. In and out, the low cabinet, and why the dumping out matters too. The block and the cup, timed.
- [Day 337: Forty-five weeks: hidden, found](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-337.md): Looking for things they saw you hide is on the 1-year list. Hide-and-find from the 1-year guide, written for an eleven-month-old: one hiding place, in sight. The memory game, again.
- [Day 338: Pulling up and cruising, month twelve](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-338.md): Pulling up to stand and walking while holding furniture are 1-year milestones, with standing alone anywhere from 6.9 to 16.9 months. A box to push, with you spotting. Push-and-carry walks.
- [Day 339: First steps, still maybe](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-339.md): A few steps alone is a 15-month milestone, and many babies aren't walking alone at 12 months. The honest range, the question worth asking, and three steps with one hand held. The one-hand walk.
- [Day 340: The pincer and the cup](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-340.md): Picking up small bits of food between thumb and finger, and drinking from a cup without a lid as you hold it, are both 1-year milestones. An open cup, your hands on it, three sips. The held-cup sip.
- [Day 341: Shoes for the first steps](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-341.md): No shoes until walking outside, and then closed-toe, flexible, nonskid, with room to grow and no special arches. Barefoot inside, shoes for out. The barefoot-inside rule.
- [Day 342: Favoring a side, losing skills](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-342.md): The don't-wait list for 12 months: pull up, wave, look for a hidden toy; one side favored; seems not to see or hear; lost skills. Early intervention is free, no referral. The both-hands day.
- [Day 343: Family food, month twelve](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-343.md): Finely chopped, from the family's own dinner, on one plate; three meals and snacks; the refused food back again tomorrow. The same-plate dinner, with the birthday three weeks away.
- [Day 344: Choking, the last month before one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-344.md): The not-before-1 list, read out loud with your partner, and the part of it that stays after the birthday; half-inch pieces, eyes on the baby, back blows and chest thrusts. The list review.
- [Day 345: Forty-seven weeks: whole milk, from the birthday](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-345.md): Around 12 months most babies switch to whole cow's milk: 16 to 24 ounces a day, never more than 24, with meals, water between. Not yet, but soon. The milk measure, in your own cups.
- [Day 346: Bottles, the wind-down](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-346.md): Finish between 12 and 18 months; the nap and bedtime bottles go first, a cup at meals, a story in the bottle's place, never a bottle in bed. The bedtime bottle swap, if the pediatrician agreed.
- [Day 347: Iron and the anemia check](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-347.md): The 12-month visit checks for anemia. Why iron runs low, which foods carry it, and why milk stops at 24 ounces after the birthday. The iron plate: one iron-rich food at each meal today.
- [Day 348: Teeth at one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-348.md): Brush twice a day with a rice-grain smear; a dentist by the first birthday or within 6 months of the first tooth; fluoride varnish; never a bottle in bed. Book the dentist today.
- [Day 349: Sleep near one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-349.md): Twelve to 16 hours a day until the birthday, then 11 to 14; two naps for now, one after 15 months; separation waking. The routine, written on a card for the sitter and the grandparents.
- [Day 350: Separation, near the peak](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-350.md): Separation anxiety peaks between 10 and 18 months. The same goodbye every time, back when you said, a new sitter who arrives early. The sitter's card: the ritual and the routine on one page.
- [Day 351: Forty-eight weeks: the first family jobs](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-351.md): Toddlers want to help, and most start around the first birthday. Show, then do it together; expect unhelpful help; thank them; keep it unpaid. Laundry basket helper, for an 11-month-old: one sock.
- [Day 352: The clean-up song](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-352.md): Toys into a bin with the same short song every time, 2 to 5 minutes before meals or bed. The song is the cue, the bin is the milestone, and the dumping-out is half the game. Clean-up song.
- [Day 353: Napkins to the table](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-353.md): Carrying napkins or spoons to the table is on CDC's list of jobs for toddlers. Make it a game, find the safe version of every job, and say thank you. The napkin carrier: one napkin, one trip.
- [Day 354: Words for feelings](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-354.md): Name what you think your baby feels, in three words, at the moment it's happening. Naming a feeling isn't giving in. Name the feeling, adapted for an 11-month-old: one feeling, one moment, today.
- [Day 355: Add a word](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-355.md): Say their sound back and add one word: "ba" becomes "ball," "dog" becomes "big dog." Why the turns matter more than the word count, and why the pause after your reply is still the hard part.
- [Day 356: Books at one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-356.md): Five to ten minutes once or twice a day, a thick page they turn themselves, and "Where's the dog?" with a wait. What the trials found about shared reading, and the free building down the road.
- [Day 357: Balls and bubbles](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-357.md): A ball rolled back and forth, bubbles to pop, and a teddy fed with a spoon: three games about taking turns, and the first pretend. What the research does and doesn't say about them.
- [Day 358: Outside, every day](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-358.md): Twenty minutes or more outdoors, every day you can: the stroller as the base, grass and a bench as the gym, and whatever they point at as the lesson. The week-48 habit that outlasts the series.
- [Day 359: Forty-nine weeks: the house at walking height](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-359.md): Gates, windows, cords, tip-overs, batteries, magnets, water, hot drinks, and poisons, checked at the eye level of a baby who stands. The walking-height sweep, and the partner takes half.
- [Day 360: Car seat at one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-360.md): Rear-facing until the seat's own rear-facing limit, not until a birthday; most convertible seats allow it to 2 or later, and bent legs are fine. The rear-facing promise, and a sentence for relatives.
- [Day 361: Fever and the ER list at one](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-361.md): The within-24-hours rules and the 104°F line hold past the birthday; what changes at one is the head-injury rule. The fever card, updated, with your own card beside it.
- [Day 362: Before the 12-month visit](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-362.md): Vaccines around the birthday on a schedule that differed in 2026, an anemia check, lead by risk, and five things to confirm in writing: milk, bottles, walking, words, and the dentist.
- [Day 363: What a year changed](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-363.md): From a newborn to a baby who stands, points, pinches, waves, and pauses at "no": the year in one look, what the 1-year guide covers next, and a letter sealed for the second birthday.
- [Day 364: The day before](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-364.md): The birthday plan, kept small: the nap protected, the cake out of reach with no honey or whole nuts in it, no balloons at floor level, the candle held by an adult. And the same-blanket photo.
- [Day 365: One year](https://chorevia.com/learn/twelfth-month/day-365.md): The birthday. The 12-month list as most babies, around now; from today, whole milk, the bottle wind-down, the dentist, and the first family job. The 1-year guide is the next home; the series ends.
